Tech Tip - Turn your computer off to save Energy.
Why you should turn off your PC at night or over weekends.
March 26th, 2009

A great report was just released by 1E talking about $2.8 billion wasted in the US every year because of computers being left on at night or on weekends.  The entire report you can see here in PDF format:

Our Suggestion - Turn it off at night or on Weekends.  Or you can use Sleep Mode or Hibernate.  Sleep Mode uses a little bit of power but it's fast to wake up from.  I like to use this setting after about 30 minutes of inactivity.  Hibernate actually uses no power and saves the hard drive in that exact state.  It takes a couple minutes to wake up from but is one of the best options for saving power (or you can just turn your computer completely off).
